Description
Iwo Jima WWII Memorial sign! We designed and made this out of 1/8” thick steel so it is super-durable. Then we weld 1/4″ square stock legs so that it may be stuck in the ground as a sign or marker without any risk of bending the legs. Next, we powder coat it black and include an actual flag as shown in the picture.
The Iwo Jima art itself is 23″ Wide X 9 1/2″ high (measured up to the hand on the flagpole). The legs are an additional 7 1/2″. And then the flag makes it a bit taller.
As depicted here, our steel Iwo Jima is an awesome patriotic yard art– with the stakes pushed into the ground, so the bottom of the art touches the ground, and the flag waving high! If you’re going for a taller presence, feel free to reach out and we’ll make the legs longer to fit your needs! If you want to set it on a shelf or mantle, just choose the drop-down menu option for our “without legs” version and we will leave the legs off for you.
Does Thickness Matter? YES! But it can be confusing because a lot of ads say “heavy duty,” “thick,” or “very durable,” but those are just words. Some ads will tell you it is a particular gauge, but if you are like us, these approaches make us feel like a goat looking at a watch – – pretty confused! So, in this listing we use 1/8″ thick metal. Let’s put that in a list of thicknesses using common coins: 1/8″ = .125″ = 11 Gauge = Thicker than a Quarter and a Dime Stacked on Top of Each Other (2.4% Thicker). It is 250% thicker than 18 Gauge and 60% thicker than 14 Gauge. 5/64″ = .078″ = 14 Gauge = Barely Thicker than a Nickel (1.6% thicker). 1/20″ = .05″ = 18 Gauge = Almost as Thick as a Dime (it is 6% short)
